WZM Joins Efforts to Build Poland’s Domestic K2 MRO Capabilities
On September 17, 2026, WZM was officially designated as the Polish defense industry technology transfer recipient for the maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) of K2 powerpacks, in a move to further strengthen WZM’s cooperation with Hyundai Rotem Company. WZM’s presence on the list of Level 4 MRO technology transfer recipients marks another step in developing stronger domestic K2 technical support capabilities.
“Security and economy. Good news for Poznań, as that is where the K2 powerpacks will be serviced, but also for the future Wielkopolskie Zakłady Pancerne im. Hipolita Cegielskiego, and for our national security as a whole, because maintenance done locally is how you build your resilience,” said Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka, Deputy Minister of National Defense.
“Establishing cooperation between WZM and HRC as part of the K2 program has been a months-long process, and even though some disappointment lingered over the decision to select Bumar Łabędy as the tank production site, we now have a positive resolution, worked out by Bumar Łabędy and WZM’s management teams, and supported by HRC’s openness to the idea. The Ministry of National Defense played a major role in helping change our Korean partner’s position, and we are grateful for that support. Bringing WZM into the mix of Poland’s K2 MRO capabilities is only natural for a market player with WZM’s experience and expertise,” emphasized Adam Leszkiewicz, CEO of PGZ.
“Today’s event marks a major milestone in advancing our ambitious initiatives to strengthen Poland’s national security, and above all, in expanding our domestic MRO capabilities,” said Grzegorz Szkaradek, CEO of WZM.
